A Christian tutor centre for Impaq homeschool learners, at Keywest Shopping Centre (Action Sport). Learners follow the CAPS-aligned Impaq curriculum with a tutor close by.
Tuisskool Akademie is a Christian tutor centre for Impaq homeschool learners in Krugersdorp. Christian principles, values and practices are the base of everything we do. Our main language of teaching is Afrikaans, and we actively keep the Afrikaans language and culture alive.
The centre was founded in 2010 by Yolanda Hurter. In 2014 it passed to Estelle Castanho, who had tutored at the centre from the start. Estelle holds a BEd (Intermediate and Senior Phase) with Afrikaans and Psychology as main subjects, and, most importantly, a real passion for children, their teaching and their upbringing.
We are a registered Tutor Centre (H1500). We use the CAPS-aligned curriculum provided by Impaq, and we receive academic support from Impaq. We help learners with the support of their parents, who remain responsible for their child's education.
Tuisskool-leerder? Ons help graag.
We do not only look at the final result. We look at how learning happens, how your child thinks and how they reach the answer.
To grow learners into caring, thinking adults who can take their place in a fast-changing technological world. When children are happy, they reach new heights. Every learner has the right to be taught, to learn and to succeed in the 21st century.
Your child attends the centre each school day, follows a timetable and works through their Impaq lessons at their own pace.
Learners may attend for up to two days a week. Pay only for the days attended, and get help with content they do not understand.
Tutors explain the work that did not make sense, so your child can move on with confidence.
We download, print in colour, supervise, scan and upload the papers, and supply the answer books. Also available to external learners.
Assessments for Grade 3, 6 and 9 are done under the BELA Act by a SACE-registered person.
We make sure work is handed in on time and marks are loaded on the Impaq system by the dates Impaq gives us.

Impaq (sometimes written Impak) is a South African homeschool curriculum provider. Our registered curriculum provider, Impaq/Optimi, is registered with SACAI and Umalusi. Families teach at home or at a tutor centre like ours.
Impaq is registered with SACAI, which works directly with the Department of Education, so the curriculum follows CAPS. Learners do exactly the same work as learners in ordinary state schools.
The centre runs from 08:00 to 13:30. We open with a scripture reading and prayer, and there are two 20-minute breaks with no phones. A timetable is followed, but learners work at their own pace.
Impaq sets them, and SACAI does so for Grade 10 to 12. We make sure everything is handed in on time and that marks are loaded on the system by the dates Impaq provides.

Yes, for a maximum of two days a week. More than that counts as full-time. Part-time learners are helped with subject content they do not understand, and parents stay responsible for their child's education. Tests and exam fees apply if they write with us.
Full-time fees are worked out over 11 months of the year, with tests and exams included, and are due on or before the 3rd of each month. There is a 10% discount for the second learner from the same family. Test and exam supervision for external learners is charged separately. Contact us for the current fee schedule.
